The Pinguins

Pinguins or Penguins are a group of aquatiq animal and flightless birds, living almost exclusively in the Southern hemisphere, especially in Antartica. They spend about half of their lie on land and half in the oceans.

In all over the world, there are 17 until 19 Pinguin species. And many kinds of Pinguin, such as The King Pinguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus), The Emperor Pinguin (Aptenodytes forsteri), The Gentoo Pinguin (Pygoscelis papua), The Adelie Pinguin (Pygoscelis adeliae), The Chinstrap Pinguin (Pygoscelis antartica), The Rockhopper Pinguin (Eudyptes chrysocome), The Fiordland Pinguin (Eudyptes pachyrhynchus), The Snares Pinguin (Eudyptes robustus), and The Royal Pinguin (Eudyptes schlegeli).

All of Pinguin species are native of Southern hemisphere, but Pinguins are not only found in cold climates, such as Antartica. There are 3 Pinguin species which live in the tropic area. One of them, The Galapagos Pinguin, lives in the Galapagos Island and they cross the equator to look for some foods.

Most Pinguin feed on krill, fish, squid, and other forms of sealife caught while swimming underwater. They can drink salt water because their supraorbital gland filters excess salt from the The largest Pinguin species is The Emperor Pinguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) with tall is about 1,1 meters and weigh 35 kg or more. And the smallest Pinguin species is The Little Blue Pinguin (Eudyptula minor), also known as The Fairy Pinguin which the tall is about 40 centimeters and weigh 1 kg. Generally, the larger Pinguins can make the temperature of their body constantly, so they can survive in the cold area, while smaller Pinguins are generally foubd in the temperate or even tropical climates.

It is so difficult to know or look the Pinguin’s gendre because Pinguins don’t have external sex. So, the Scientists have to use the cromosome/ DNA examine methode. Pinguins reproduce their young (cubs) by laying their eggs. Pinguin eggs are smaller than any other bird species.

Pinguins are superbly adapted to aquatiq life. Their wings have become flippers, useless for flight in the air. In the water, Pinguins are astonishingly agile. Pinguin’s swimming looks very similar to bird’s flight in the air. Within the smooth plumage a layer of air is preserved, enscuring buoyancy. The air layer also helps insulate the birds in cold waters. On land, Pinguins use their tails and wings to maintain balance for their upright stance. Pinguins have a thick layer of insulating feathers that keeps them warm in the water. They also are able to control blood flow to their extremities, reducing the amount of blood that gets cold, but still keeping the extremities from freezing. In the extreme cold of the Antartic winter, the females are at sea fishing for food leaving the malesto brave the weather by themselves. They often huddle together to keep warm and rotate position to make sure that each Pinguin gets a turn in the center of the heat pack.
